Cape Fear River Trip

We drove almost 2200 miles in 3 days. Got back late Thursday night, rested on Friday, and then this is where we were Saturday! Gotta love a little adventure:)

We paddled 10 miles down the river. It took 7 hours, plus a couple hours to stage the cars and load in and out! We took our time, swimming, splashing, and enjoying beautiful North Carolina!
The Buckner Family came with us….made it even more fun:)

Nathan was good as long as there was an endless supply of food! j/k

I think Cody is about to dive off the back of his kayak…the water was so warm, but it still felt very refreshing!

Cody and Kali loved paddling their kayaks, although they got pretty tired and were grateful to "hook on" and catch a ride now and then!

These kayaks have been so fun to have….you can fit a whole family on this yellow one!

Nathan eventually decided Daddy's boat was way cooler than mine, and that is where he camped out most of the trip!

Go Cody!

Can she get any cuter:)

And this was Kayla's favorite spot:)

Or this one:) Yes…all this kiddos took naps too. Doesn't that just look so comfy?

Cody decided he needed to stretch his legs:)

This was one of the little rapids on the river. Cody had TONS of fun hitting the rapids.  They were all about class 2 rapids, not too bad, although some of us got knocked out for a swim, and the yellow boat flipped over on one! It made things a little exciting!

oh Annabelle….she wanted to swim the whole way, but she got tired….and was a little slow! Her birthday is this month and she will be 10 years old! I'd say she is doing great!

Here is the group, minus Kayla and myself. 4 adults, and 8 kids! so fun:)

Cody fell asleep sitting up…wore him right out:)

Kali fell asleep sitting up too!

They eventually deciding laying down was much more comfortable.

She fell asleep gripping her paddle…she did not want to lose that!

Day 2
Well, Saturday was lots of fun. We rested Sunday, and decided to DO IT AGAIN on Monday!
Took a little break to explore the island. I love these kids!

"Lets hold hands!" says Kali:)

the rocks are a little slippery and awkward to walk on!

It was so pretty!

We got some really fun video as well. Just a really great day.

  1. Just amazing! I can't believe how the kids have their own Kayaks and look so comfortable on them. Standing up! sleeping!! I love that Kali has her thumb, no blanket, but the paddle will do! What a fun sport and what fantastic parents! I wish I was there!
