Myrtle Beach

Welcome to Myrtle Beach!

We spent all day last Friday at the beach...2 1/2 hour drive there, play hard, then drive home.  We went with some friends that had access to a nice resort's amenities so when we were done with the sand, we went swimming in the pool. The kids loved it!  We finally bribed Cody out of the pool with swedish fish around 10, and got on the road by 10:30. Long day!  Funny thing is, we had so much fun that we turned around and went back on Monday! This time we went with a different friend and didn't have the resort on our side, but still had soooo much fun! Here are some of our pics from the two days.

 Now that the posed shots are out of the way....here is some of the action!

Cody learned how to body surf and was awesome at catching the waves. I was actually amazed at how well he understood how to wait for the wave, and dive forward at the right moment to be surfed into the beach. He caught some pretty good waves, and wasn't afraid of the water at all! The salt bugged him at first, then he got used to it.

Shon really got good with the yak boards and caught some good waves, too!

Roxanne getting some kayaking in....I was pretty proud of my little wave! Shon made it look easy out there...I quickly discovered it was harder than it looks! The ocean is quite powerful!

We about ran over these guys on the drive in...and they ended up coming to the beach with us, (in our sand buckets) and then home to our backyard. They are box turtles, and pretty cool. We have quite the collection of animals now. Two toads, two turtles, and four baby birds in a nest.
